Visit to the Houses of Parliament

Posted 20th June 2023

Jim Lauder, Trust Assistant Principal and Civic Responsibility Lead, and Maryam Kapree, Dixons Trinity alumna, visited the Houses of Parliament this week to discuss the Child of the North Report and present evidence to the APPG. APPGs are informal cross-party groups that have no official status within

parliament. They are run by and for members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside of parliament in their administration and activities.

Jim and Maryam were able to present the challenges affecting young people in the North, such as mental health and the impact of the pandemic. MPs were responsive to their feedback to begin to enact change. We are very proud of them for representing Team Dixons and our mission of challenging educational and social disadvantage in the North.
