Appeals

In-year appeals

The Academy currently has five year groups, Year 7 to Year 11, and is currently full in each of these year groups.  Parents can apply for their child to join the waiting list; details of how to do this can be found by clicking on the 'Admissions' tab at the top of the website.

Before you can make an appeal you must first have applied to the Academy in writing for a place and/or have completed an In-Year Application Form for the local authority.  Once you have received a letter advising you that a place cannot be offered, you can then proceed to make an appeal for the Academy if you wish to.

The Academy can only proceed to the appeals stage if the year group is full.  Places are not 'reserved' for those whose appeals are upheld, so any upheld appeal will result in the year group being over the published admission number.

When considering each appeal, the panel look for exceptional reasons why a child should attend this particular school.  If you decide to appeal it is important to put on the appeal form all your reasons for wanting this particular school, and attach to it any written evidence that will support your appeal, such as letters from a hospital consultant/paediatrician or social worker.

You may also find the attached document helpful in explaining the appeals process.

If you wish to receive an appeals pack, please telephone the number given below and ask to speak to the Appeals Co-ordinator. Alternatively, you can send an e-mail to the address below:

We are absolutely delighted to celebrate a Progress 8 score of +1.57, remarkably 3rd nationally after 7th last year. True testament to very hardworking students, loyal families who trust us and a simply wonderful staff body who invest so much.
